Shared Care Agreements

Shared Care Agreement Changes 10/02/2025

Shared Care Agreements

You may have requested a referral for an  NHS, private or right to choose assessment.

Medication from these providers for ADHD and gender services are started by a consultant and then they ask us as your GP to take on a shared care agreement to continue prescribing.

We are unable to prescribe this medication under shared care arrangements since we have not resolved the commissioning of shared care in Sheffield and there is insufficient resource to do this safely.

There is no funding in place for us to do this work and we are declining any further unfunded shared care agreements from 10.2.25.

We want to be clear at point of referral so you are informed about this.

If you choose to seek an assessment we will not accept any unfunded shared care agreements. Please ensure you are clear they will continue to prescribe or that you are willing to pay for these medications longer term via private or right to choose providers.

You will be aware of the current pressures on general practice, and we are unable to undertake un-resourced or inappropriate work that is outside our contractual responsibility, and which will as a result jeopardise our core duty of care to patients.

Many thanks

The Hollies Team
